Payment protection

The reason a stranger will wire you four figures.

A buyer paying for a puppy they have never seen is taking your word for it. Held balances, a one-tap confirmation and a documented claims process are what replaces that leap of faith.

01

The deposit pays through, the balance is held

The deposit is the buyer's commitment and it settles to you straight away — it carries you through the weeks of raising the puppy. The balance is held and released when the hand-off is confirmed, because that is the money the delivery is actually about.

02

A claim is a record, not an argument

If a buyer disputes a sale, the claim goes to Pick Me Pets with what they said and what they tried. You can read it, and answer it in your conversation with the buyer, which is where these actually get resolved.

03

Your evidence is already filed

The signed contract, the deposit, the delivery confirmation and its photo are attached to that puppy as you go. A breeder who kept records wins a chargeback; a breeder who kept receipts in a drawer does not.

/ how it works

Deposit, balance, hand-off, release.

Each step leaves a record, and the records are what make the next sale easier to close.

  1. 01

    Buyer reserves with a deposit

It settles to you, and the puppy comes off the market.

  2. 02

    Buyer pays the balance

Held rather than passed straight through, so the money the hand-off is about is still on the table.

  3. 03

You hand the puppy over and mark it delivered

With a photo where you were there in person — that photo is what answers a buyer who later says the puppy never came.

  4. 04

    Buyer confirms in one tap

The balance releases. A buyer who never answers does not hold your money forever: confirmation happens automatically after a week.

  5. 05

If something is wrong, it becomes a claim

Documented, decided by Pick Me Pets, and visible to you the whole way.

/ questions

Common questions

Is my money held until the buyer confirms?

The balance is; the deposit is not. The deposit settles to you when it is paid — it is the buyer's commitment and it carries you through the weeks of raising the puppy. The balance is the money the hand-off is about, so that is the part held until delivery is confirmed.

What if the buyer never confirms?

It confirms itself after a week. The protection exists for an honest buyer who has second thoughts, not as a way for a silent one to sit on your money indefinitely.

What happens if a buyer files a claim against me?

You can read it — what they said and how they tried to reach you — on your own Claims screen and on your phone. Pick Me Pets decides it, and you answer it in your conversation with the buyer, which is where these actually get resolved.

Does this help with a card chargeback?

It is what wins one. The signed contract, the deposit, the delivery confirmation and its photo are attached to that puppy as the sale happens, so the evidence exists before you need it.

Does protection cost me a commission?

Never a percentage of the puppy. The buyer pays a $29 protection fee on top of their deposit. Separately, a buyer PickMePets introduced carries a flat $100 introduction fee on that sale, taken out of the deposit.

/ next step

Sell to buyers who have never met you.

Protection that is documented on both sides, so the money moves when the puppy does.
